Compro VideoMate W800F digital TV set-top box

Compro has launched the VideoMate W800F - a stand alone set-top box that will allow PC users to watch HD digital TV channels through their monitor without turning on their PC.

The VideoMate W800F simply connects to a monitor and a main aerial. Users can then switch on the box and their monitor without having to power up the PC. The box has built-in speakers, so users can also enjoy digital radio channels.

Not only can users watch digital TV channels, but they can pause live TV and even watch up to nine channels at once, in a tiled display on the monitor. Compro has included a noise reduction technology to minimise jagged edges and eliminate flicker. (We still reckon attempting to view nine programmes simultaneously will make our heads explode though.)

The TV box can be connected to a DVD player, VCR or game consoles so users can watch DVD movies or play games on their monitor. It also comes bundled with a remote control.

Priced at £79.99, the VideoMate W800F will be available from mid-March direct from Compro
