    Asus has announced what it believes is the first quad-core gaming laptop to hit the market. The £1,999 machine is available immediately from Amazon.co.uk, while a moderately less powerful dual-core model can be had for £1,349.

  • Lenovo S10e "instant on" netbook

    Lenovo has added two netbooks to its line-up of IdeaPad notebooks, the S10e and the S9e. The £299 inc VAT IdeaPad S10e is a 10.1in netbook with an LED backlit display primarily designed for web access on the move.

  • HP xw9400 workstation desktop PC

    HP has unveiled a workstation based around AMD's 45nm Shanghai quad-core Opteron processor. The HP xw9400 workstation is expected to ship at a starting price of £1,379.

  • Medion Akoya P7300D desktop PC

    Medion has unveiled the Akoya P7300D - a desktop PC powered by Intel's Core 2 quad-core Q8200 processor, which costs under £500.

  • Dell mini 12 laptop

    Dell has put its mini 12 laptop onsale in the UK. The £425 laptop is a Vista machine that is larger than a netbook but seems to be pitched at consumers who prize portability over pure processing power.

    Dell has launched the Alienware Area 51 750i desktop gaming PC. The £797 inc VAT machine is designed for "hardcore gamers" and comes with up to 2TB of storage.

    That Asus was set to launch a bamboo-clad laptop was no secret; it's been demonstrating its 'EcoBook' laptop for the past year.

  • Vodafone BlackBerry Storm 9500

    Vodafone UK today started taking pre-orders for the BlackBerry Storm smartphone, with the handset offered for free on £35-a-month contracts.

    Apricot Computers has staged a Commodore-style comeback and re-emerged as a sub-notebook brand. Apricot's first new product since the 1980s is a 8.9in mini laptop that runs off Linux and costs £279.

  • Toshiba Tecra R10 business laptop

    Toshiba has released a new range of business laptops to expand its Tecra business range, leading with the Tecra R10, aimed at senior and middle management.

  • Asus S101 Eee PC comes to UK

    Asus, maker of the original mini laptop, has announced UK pricing and availability of a new Windows XP model in its Eee PC range. The Asus S101 Eee PC will cost £449 and come with 32GB of memory.

  • Traxdata Ultra-S Plus 500GB solid state laptop drive

    Traxdata is set to launch SSD drives for laptop upgraders. It already does a good line in USB flash memory drives on which you can store your work; now it wants to get inside your laptop too.

  • Sony VAIO AW widescreen laptop range

    Billed as a world first, Sony's new VAIO AW Series of laptops includes models with LCD screens that promise to reproduce all colours from the Adobe RGB profile. It was showing them off yesterday along with other new additions to its portable and desktop VAIO product ranges.

  • Sony JS1 VAIO 500GB all-in-one PC

    Sony has joined the all-in-one PC throng with the launch of an Apple iMac-esque 25in panel PC with the computer gubbins hidden behind the X-Black display. A 20in model will also be available for £699.

  • Samsung R610 widescreen laptop

    Samsung has added a 16in model to its 'touch of colour' range of notebook computers. The £799 ex VAT laptop is available as either an Intel Centrino or an Intel Core 2 Duo model and comes with Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled.

    Seagate has announced the autumn 2008 lineup of the company’s FreeAgent range of external hard drives. This new generation includes desktop and mobile options, for both Mac and Windows PCs.
