Advent 5511 Centrino 2 laptop

PC World has announced what it claims is the lowest-priced Intel Centrino 2 laptop in the UK. Priced at £529 inc VAT, the Advent 5511 is available solely through PC World.

The Advent 5511 is a 2GHz Windows Vista Home Premium laptop running off an Intel Centrino 2 P7350 processor with 2GB of RAM.

The Advent 5511 has a 15.4in screen with a native resolution of 1,280x800 pixels. It offers draft 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity and eSATA and wireless LAN.

Aimed at those who want a laptop that's capable of being an entertainment device rather than a purely practical business machine, the Advent 5511 supports HD video playback, comes with an HDMI high-definition port and has a 250GB hard disk on which to store movies, photos and other files.

Photos can be read and imported from its integrated card reader, while peripherals such as speakers can be attached via one of the laptop's 3 USB 2.0 ports.

A PC World product manager, Dean Kramer said, "We have high hopes for the Advent 5511 and feel that with its super-fast chipset it's one of the bargains of the year."
