Three of the most innovative products of CES 2012 so far are Parrot's new internet connected, in-car media players.
Parrot will use its new ASTEROID platform to bring internet connectivity into cars.
In Las Vegas, Parrot have launched the ASTEROID CK (Telephony, Music, and Internet), the Parrot ASTEROID NAV (Telephony, Music, Internet, and Navigation) and the Parrot ASTEROID 2DIN (Telephony, Music, Tuner, Internet, and Navigation).
These are the first Android based in-car products from Parrot that boast internet connectivity. The three new ASTEROID devices will bring the internet to you car by using "a 3G key or tethering from a mobile phone and connecting to a GPS antenna."
All three of the new products will offer fully compatible Bluetooth, that will enable you to connect you Android smartphone to the Parrot in-car devices and experience "advanced hands-free phone features (simultaneous connection of two phones, automatic phonebook synchronisation, voice recognition, noise reduction, echo cancelling)" .
The ASTEROID devices will also allow you to play Music from various sources, such as: iOS devices, USB key, MP3 player, SD card, or from a device equipped with Bluetooth® A2DP.
While the 3.2’’ Parrot ASTEROID CK only offers Telephony, Music, and Internet, the beefed up 5" colour capacitive multi-touch screen Parrot ASTEROID NAV, comes with added onboard navigation.
Predictably the top-end model, the ASTEROID 2DIN, goes one step further and comes with a 6.2" colour multi-touch screen, Wi-Fi, FM/AM tuner and RDS text+ service. Finally the 2DIN comes complete with two inputs one for a rearview camera and one for a video output.
Parrot have yet to confirm release dates or price details for any of these three new ASTEROID in-car devices.
