DAB radio manufacturer PURE has launched its first DAB hi-fi system that's compatible with the Apple iPhone. The £149 Sirocco 150 has both digital and FM radio tuners, a CD player and a dock for an iPhone or iPod.
In addition, MP3 tracks can be played directly from a USB memory stick or external hard drive or from a Secure Digital flash memory card. An input on the front allows other brands of MP3 player to be attached.
The PURE Sirocco 150 consists of a main controller unit, a pair of stereo speakers and a remote controle. The iPhone/iPod has a matching but separate Apple-certified dock.
Track and artist names are displayed on an LCD screen on the Sirocco.
The system produces 25 Watts RMS of "class-leading" audio. PURE says the speakers "have treated 4in mid-bass drivers, 1.5in tweeters and custom tuned crossovers for crisp treble, clear mid-tones and rich bass".
The PURE Sirocco 150 DAB hi-fi for iPhone goes onsale in the UK in June for £149 through a range of high street and online retailers.
