Sonos adds Sub to speaker line-up

Brings dedicated bass to wireless H-Fi system

Sonos has announced the Sub, its wireless Hi-Fi subwoofer.

The Sub brings extra bass to any existing Sonos system, such as the Play:3, with a one-button setup. The Sub will be available from 19 June with a price tag of £599.

"Like all of our products, our new SUB is designed from the inside out by Sonos," said John MacFarlane, CEO of Sonos. "SUB has all the hallmarks of a great Sonos product: Clear, deep, all-digital sound, an incredibly simple setup, and beautiful design you’ll be proud to show off in your home."

The Sonos Sub features two 'force-cancelling' speakers which are positioned face-to-face. This means the sound comes through loud and clear without cabinet buzz or rattle, according to Sonos. The Sub is powered by two tuned Class-D digital amplifiers and has digital signal processing (DSP) hardware for zero-loss audio quality.

Like other Sonos components, you can control the Sub from your computer, smartphone or tablet. The firm has its free Sonos Controller apps for Android, iPad, iPhone, Mac and PC.

The model available next month has a gloss black lacquer finish (pictured). However, a matte black finish will be available in October for £100 less.
