Altec Lansing inMotion iMT630 portable iPhone speaker launched

iPhone and iPod touch users can enhance speaker function through free apps

Altec Lansing has launched the inMotion iMT630 a portable speaker system for Apple's iPhone and iPod.

The speaker, which measures 318x38x130mm, is compatible with all models of iPhone and iPod except the Shuffle and features a rechargeable battery so it can be used on-the-go, as well as being plugged into a main power socket. Available with a red, black or teal accent, the speaker comes with dual 2in drivers for clear and sharp sound and offers around seven hours of playback when used on-the-go.

When the dock is connected to main power it will also charge the user's iPod or iPhone, while still letting them enjoy tracks store on the device. A remote means they can also control playback when away from the device, while the magnetic storage space for the remote on the device means it never gets misplaced.

Furthermore, the speaker function can be further enhanced for iPhone and iPod touch users thanks to the free Music Mood and Alarm Rock apps, which can be downloaded from Apple's iTunes App Store. The apps allow users to customise the sound from the inMotion iMT630 through a graphic equaliser and give the device an alarm clock function.

"The inMotion iMT630 syncs the listener's personality to his or her lifestyle. It is the perfect marriage of form and function, whether it remains stationary as part of a room's décor or moves with the party to keep the fun going," said Steve Schlangen, Altec Lansing's senior product manager

"By incorporating our engineering audio excellence into a thoughtful portable design, the iMT630 becomes more than a dock for your iPhone or iPod; it becomes a personal accessory to life."

Altec Lansing's iMT630 is available now and costs £99.99.
