Pure Evoke 2S DAB and FM radio

Pure has launched the Evoke 2S - a £169 wooden-clad DAB digital and FM radio. The Evoke 2S uses a 'Clearsound' end-to-end audio subsystem and a pair of custom-tuned speakers each with a 15-Watt output.

The Evoke 2S has a maple veneer casing and - unlike the Evoke 2xt which it succeeds - has an OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display rather than a standard LCD one. Users can pause and rewind live DAB radio and can also connect it to an MP3 player and use it as a speaker. Stations can be saved as presets for instant tuning.

Previous Evoke models have proved popular as kitchen radios and Pure has added a kitchen countdown timer feature on the Evoke 2S so dinner doesn't get burned while you take an audio trip down memory lane.

The radio can either be plugged into the main power or used on the go when coupled with Pure's optional ChargePAK rechargeable battery. Pure says the ChargePAK offers 20 hours of listening time. The Evoke 2S also features a mains power switch on the back panel of the radio so users can turn the device off completely to save energy consumption.

The Pure Evoke 2S will be available from November and costs £169.99 while the ChargePAK costs £29.99.
