Toshiba has unveiled a new Camileo compact video camera that offers 3D video capture as well as full HD video at 1920x1080 resolution at 30 frames per second. The camcorder sports a pair of 5Mp CMOS sensors used to compose the 3D photos. It has an 8x 3D zoom.
Rather than adding awkward cuts in the action caused by stopping and starting the recording process, there’s now a Pause option. The Z100’s 2.8in display offers glasses-free 3D previews. Once you’re happy with the footage, it can played directly to a TV or laptop via the HDMI connection.
The Z100 has a 120x digital zoom that works in 2D mode only and has electronic image stabilisation built in. When in 2D mode, the stills camera becomes capable of capturing images at 16Mp.
Similar in design to the Toshiba Camileo X100 of 2010, the Z100 has a touchscreen display, a rethought user interface that shows the user how to make use of the custom settings and is preloaded with Toshiba Camileo Upload software to smooth the sharing process.
Other features include face-tracking when shooting video and smile detection in still camera mode.
The Camileo Z100 stores photos and video to SDHC cards; capacities of up to 128GB are supported. The camcorder is set to go onsale from Q2.
