Easily move photos to your Nexus smartphone or tablet from a Windows or Mac laptop
Google's Nexus Android smartphones and tablets are great devices. And here's our guide on how to transfer photos from a laptop to the Nexus 7, Nexus 4 and Nexus 10.
There are a number of options when it comes to transferring photos from a laptop to a Nexus device. Cloud storage apps like Dropbox and Sugarsync are one way or you could transfer them via Bluetooth if your laptop has is, though it is not the fastest way.

By far the easiest way is to plug your Nexus into your laptop with the supplied USB cable and move the photos over in the same way you would with a USB stick or external hard drive.
Here are two guides on transferring photos to a Nexus device, one for those with an Apple Mac, and one for those running Windows.
Transfer photos from laptop to Nexus 7, Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 from Mac
Note. You will need Mac OS X 10.5 or later.
Step One
Visit www.android.com/filetransfer, download the Android File Transfer software and install it.
Step Two
Plug your Nexus device into your Mac with the supplied cable.
Step Three
Launch the Android File Transfer software by double clicking on it. Then, browse folders and files on your Mac and transfer photos to your Nexus device.

Step One
For starters you'll need to plug your smartphone or tablet into the laptop or PC which has the files you want to transfer. Do this with the cable supplied with your device, most likely a microUSB cable.

Step Two
Once you've plugged in your device, you should get a popup menu of options and your Nexus device will say 'connected as media device'. Here you can choose different ways of transferring content such as photos to our Nexus.
We recommend the 'Open device to view files' option, as long as you know where the files are located on your machine. It makes the Nexus smartphone or tablet act like any USB memory stick or external hard drive.
Note. If you're Nexus doesn't show up properly, go to the settings and select 'Connect as media device (MTP) or similar. This is normally accessible from the drop down notification menu.
Step Three
Now drag and drop the photos from your machine which you wish to transfer onto your Nexus smartphone or tablet with the Windows File Explorer. As standard there should be a photos folder labelled 'Pictures' in which to place them.
