JavaScript is a programming language that allows websites to offer sounds as well as interactive menus and other features. To ensure these facilities are available when you surf the web, you'll need to enable JavaScript on your browser. Here's how to do it in Firefox 5.

Step one
From the Tools menu at the top of the browser window, select options.

Step two
Click the Content tab and then ensure the box next to Enable JavaScript is ticked.

Step three
Alternatively, to turn JavaScript off, untick the box.
