Are you having problems playing video files received over email? One reader was, and our Helproom Editor explained how to troubleshoot problems with disrupted video playback.

QUESTION When playing video received as an email attachment, any video movement is heard to disrupt the associated sound. How can I correct this fault? I have a Dell Dimension 8100 with Windows XP Professional and 2GB of RAM. Keith Donald

HELPROOM ANSWER We're not sure exactly what problem you're describing here, Keith. If you're having problems with video playback, check to see whether any major system updates occurred around the time the problem started. If so, uninstalling that update may solve the problem. We would also suggest installing the latest graphics drivers for your PC.

If neither of our suggestions fix the problem, try installing a Codec pack, such as the K-Lite Basic pack (free).
