How to stop Adobe Reader changing your Taskbar and Start menu logos

Microsoft fix for Adobe Reader file association glitch

QUESTION Each time I download Adobe Reader to my Windows 7 computer, all the icons in my Taskbar and Start menu adopt the Adobe icon. The only way I can get the correct icons back is to uninstall Adobe Reader. Please point out where I’m going wrong, as I’d like to continue using the software. Christiane Britton

HELPROOM ANSWER Your file associations have been changed to point to Adobe Reader as the default program that opens them. Microsoft has recognised this problem and released a fix – download it from 'Desktop and Start Program icon .LNK File Associations'.
