How to watch videos in Internet Explorer, Windows XP

Elevate permissions for Internet Explorer and Flash

QUESTION I'm having trouble getting embedded videos to display in Microsoft Internet Explorer on my Windows XP PC. Microsoft Fix-it Center solved the problem with my Administrator account, but not my Standard account. Graham Borgonon

HELPROOM ANSWER It's good practice to run a Standard account with fewer access privileges than an Admin account for your day-to-day tasks, but sometimes you need to make an exception. In this case, you'll need to elevate permissions for Internet Explorer and Flash.

Right-click the .exe file for each program, choose Run as Administrator and enter the password. This should solve your problem. Be warned, however, that these are the most common entrances for malware to get on to your PC – we recommend you keep your media applications up to date at all times.
