How to set the correct time and date on Outlook emails

Ensure your email gets read, stays current

QUESTION Sent messages from my Outlook Express account are being dated four days prior to their actual date of sending and filed in the Sent Items with the faulty date on them. The recipients then overlook the messages as they don’t appear at the top of their email pile. Arthur Robinson

HELPROOM ANSWER Check that both the date and your regional settings are correct. If not, Windows will ‘adjust’ the times for you. In Start, Control Panel, Regional and Language Options check your location is set as United Kingdom. Next, go to the Date and Time applet in Control Panel applet and click on today’s date. On the Time Zone tab, check ‘(GMT) Greenwich Mean Time: Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London’ is set as your time zone and ‘Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes’ is selected.
