How to add Flash to your website

Add photos, videos and MP3s to your site

Add Flash video to your website

1. We’ve chosen the slick Flowplayer to add Flash video to our site. Flowplayer works with .flv videos. You can also convert other formats using Riva FLV Encoder.

Step 1

2. After installing Flowplayer on your site, click the examples folder on your server’s hard drive. This displays a series of embedded videos, from the most basic single file on a page to more advanced customisable and scrollable videos and playlists.

Step 2

Step 2

3. Using the simple video as an example, go to View, Source to get the code required to embed a Flash file. The two important elements are the SRC argument, which links to the Flowplayer applet on your server, and the videoFile argument under config to link to your video.

Step 3

4. For complex effects, such as tabbed videos that use a mouse scrollwheel, download JavaScripts such as flow.embed and jquery.scrollable from the Flowplayer website (links to these are found on the examples page). Modify the source code to link to the videos you want to play.
