How to clean an infected email address book

What to do when your friends receive spam... from you

QUESTION People in my address book are receiving emails from me, but I’m not sending them. Each message contains a link to what I believe is a malicious website. Can you help? Thomas Gregory

HELPROOM ANSWER You may have an email virus. This virus has taken over your email client and is using it to send out ‘adverts’ for malicious sites.

First, update your antivirus software and run a full scan. Follow up with CCleaner to flush out any lingering infection. Restart the PC, run another antivirus scan and change your password.
