Investing in photo-editing software is a must if you want to make edits such as removing red eye or adding layers. However, if you simply want to crop a photo, the Paint program integrated into Windows offer this functionality. Here's how to use it.
From the start menu, press All programs and then head to the Accessories folder and click the Paint program.
Once the program has launched, select Open from the file menu and browse your hard drive until you find the digital image you want to use. Press Open.
Click on the Crop tool, which is depicted by a rectangle with dotted lines, and then drag the rectangle around the area you want to select on the image. Then press the crop button next to the rectangle icon. The image will now be cropped to the area you selected.
If you make a mistake when selecting the area to drop, simply click your mouse in an area of the window outside your image and the selection will be remove, allowing you to start again. It's worth noting you can also change from a rectangular-shaped select tool to a free form tool by using the drop down menu on the tool button at the top of the window.
