Problem with hard drive in new PC case

Check SATA cables and connectors

When a reader moved his PC to a new chassis, everything seemed to be fine. Then he started receiving hard drive error messages. Our Helproom Editor suggested checking the SATA cables and connectors, as well checking the motherboard.

QUESTION I have recently rehoused my PC in a new system case. Everything seemed to be working fine until I started getting errors from the hard drive; occasionally, the system wouldn't recognise it at all. I tried the drive in another system and it works without issue. What can I do?

HELPROOM ANSWER Problems such as this are often due to faulty SATA cables or connectors. We suggest trying a new SATA cable to see if the problem is rectified. It's also worth trying a different SATA port on your motherboard.
