A new feature in the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge is the always-on display. It consumes minimal battery power, but you might decide it’s not for you. How to customise the Galaxy S7 always-on display

Customise S7 always-on display

Before you decide to ditch the always-on display on the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge entirely, it may be that you can customise it to better suit your needs. Unfortunately, you can’t force it to provide more notifications from the likes of Snapchat and WhatsApp, but you can change the style of the clock, swap it for a calendar or image, and choose a background wallpaper. (The LG G5 also has an always-on display - see how it compares in our LG G5 review.)

• Go to Settings, Display, Always-on display

• Under Content to show choose between Clock, Calendar and Image

• If you’ve chosen Clock or Calendar, now tap on Clock style or Calendar style to choose a design

• Finally choose Background image and scroll through the options available. Tap on one to select it, and exit the Settings menu to save
