How to activate call waiting on an Apple iPhone

Get an alert that someone's trying to call when you're already on the phone

The call waiting feature on mobile phones means that users who are already using their handset for a conversation will be alerted, usually by a series of beeps, if there's another person trying to call them at the same time. We show you how to activate the function on an iPhone.

It's worth noting that not all smartphone owners will be able to access the call waiting feature. Some operators don't give the function to Pay-as-you-go customers, so if the option is greyed out, check with your network to see if you can have access to it.

Step one
From the Home screen select Settings.

Step two
Now open the Phone Menu. From here slide the button next to Call Waiting to on.

Step three
To de-activate Call Waiting at any time simply move the slider to the off position.
