How to customise your Twitter page

Change the background on the micro-blogging site

Micro-blogging site Twitter is a great way to interact with friends, clients and even other web users. Each user that signs up gets their own Twitter page that can customise with their photo and biography. You can even add a personalised background, either from the choice supplied by Twitter, or an image of your own. We show you how.

Step one
Go to the Twitter website and log-in using the option in the top right-hand corner. Select Profile from the options at the top of the window.

Step two
Click on Edit your profile and then select the Design tab.

Step three
From the 'themes' displayed, choose one that suits you. Alternatively, press Change background image to select your own photo to use as a background picture. Press Browse and then use the Windows Explorer box to trawl your hard drive and select an image.

Step four
If you want the background tiled, check the box next to Tile Background. You can also change the colours of the background, texts and links by pressing Change Design colours and then selecting a new colour. When finished press Save changes and your new background will be applied.
