How to share iPlayer recommendations with friends

Let friends and family see what you're viewing on catch-up TV

The BBC's online catch-up TV service, iPlayer, allows web users to watch programmes that have already been broadcast on their PC for up to 30 days after their first transmission. If you watch a great show, you'll probably want to share it with your friends and family. But rather than copying and pasting the link to the show, iPlayer has some built in features that allow users to share their favourite shows over social network (providing you're already a member). Here's how.

Step one
Visit the iPlayer home page and select the programme you want to share with friends and family.

Step two
Scroll to the bottom of the window and press Share.

Step three
Press the social network you require from the buttons displayed. Depending upon the network you chose (Facebook and Twitter re among those available), you'll either have to grant iPlayer permission to access your profile, or you'll be immediately provided with a shortened link, which you can then add a message to and share by pressing entering, clicking Tweet etc.
