How to change the download destination folder in Safari

Ensure downloads are stored where you want them

When you download files from the web to your PC, they are automatically stored in a folder, the location of which is set by your browser automatically. However, it is very easy to change this location yourself. We've already shown you how to change the folder items are saved to in Firefox 4, Internet Explorer 9 and Google Chrome but here's how to implement the change in Apple's Safari.

Step one
Open Safari, and then using the icon that looks like a cog, open the settings menu and select Preferences.

Step two
Scroll down to the section marked Save downloaded files to and use the drop down menu to choose Other.

Step three
Browse your hard drive from the window that pops up and select the new location you want your downloads to be saved in. Press Select folder. Then close the Preferences window. Your downloads location has now been changed.
