How to Remember the Milk (and everything else)

Set an online to-do list in six easy steps

The new year has come and gone and, with it, plenty of resolutions to become a better person. Most of them probably didn’t last any longer than your New Year’s Day hangover. But cheer up: with a little help from the internet, we’re going to turn one resolution into reality. It’s time to organise your life.

1. Remember the Milk (rememberthemilk.com) is an extremely easy-to-use task management site. It creates to-do lists, provides reminders and integrates well with other online services such as iGoogle and Dashboard. To start using the service, simply register, then enter your name and password.

2. The default page displays your daily tasks and provides quick access to anything that’s due tomorrow and to overdue tasks. Click Continue to Tasks and you’ll see tasks organised under the tabs: Personal, Study and Work. To add an entry to a category, click Add Task and type in a brief description.

3. When you hover over a task, the panel to the right lists a series of options. As well as setting a date and time estimate for your entry, you can add a URL or location and share the task with a contact. Priorities can also be set in the box at the bottom of the page.
