Factory resetting a device like a tablet essentially puts it back to the state it would be if it was still in the box. It erases your assigned Google account, system and application data and settings and files contained on internal or removable storage such as photos, music and videos.
Factory Reset an Android tablet
Performing a factory reset can be useful for a number of reasons and situations. You might want to sell the tablet and make sure all your personal data is removed from the device, for example. It can also be useful if your device has become too clogged up with apps, files and different accounts which may be compromising the performance.
A factory reset is a simple task to carry out but can be tricky to find in the settings menu.
Step One
Navigate to the settings of your tablet either via the icon within the apps menu or by the pop-up Notifications and Setting menu in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Step Two
In Android 3.x Honeycomb, scroll down to and click on the Privacy section of the Settings menu. Some devices may have the factory reset option within the Storage segment of the menu.
Step Three
Click on the factory data reset button.

Step Four
You will be presented with a warning about the reset and sometimes a tick box to include any present SD card. If you don’t want to erase the data contained on the SD card then make sure you remove it before performing the reset. When you’re ready to take the plunge hit the Reset Device button.

In Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich devices, like the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime, the factory reset has its own section within the Settings menu. Navigate to the menu the same way as Honeycomb and scroll down to Backup and Reset. The reset can be carried out in the same way.
The device will carry out the full factory reset and reboot the tablet ready for use again.

Carol said: I have had this problem and solved it by lining up the menu with an android phone See if you can have a look at the settings selections and you will see some icons down the side of the list The one for locale and text is a box with an A in the middle See if you can find something similar even if it has a chinese symbol If it is the right one you should be able to select your language from there These instructions are for an older version but the principal is the same
