Gamescom is up and running in Cologne, Germany all week this week, which kicked off on Tuesday with Microsoft’s mammoth Xbox Gamescom 2015 press conference and has been followed by EA’s Gamescom 2015 press conference early Wednesday morning and a special Call of Duty event in the afternoon. However, for World of Warcraft fans, there’s only one press conference that matters, and that’s Blizzard’s. Blizzard will be at Gamescom all week long, but has one particular special announcement planned for this afternoon. Read on to find out more:

As mentioned above, Blizzard is at Gamescom until Sunday 9 August, and will be hosting a number of challenges, quizzes and even concerts every day for those lucky enough to go along to the event (Hall 7, stands B042 A043, B051 C050, C051, C061, A060, B061 C060, B050 A051, and A050). However, there’s one particular announcement that has everyone excited, which will take place today (Thursday 6 August 2015) at around 17:00 GMT. The company announced that it’ll be revealing a new expansion via Twitter on 29 July:

Don’t worry if you’re not at Gamescom, as Blizzard has confirmed that it will be live streaming the event for its fans, and you can watch that live stream right now below:

So, what is Blizzard’s big announcement? All we know for sure is that the creators of the hugely popular World of Warcraft will be announcing the games’ latest expansion, described as “the next chapter of the World of Warcraft saga” on a World of Warcraft blog post. Details about what the expansion will include are scarce, and (surprisingly) there are no leaks or rumours surrounding it, so it looks like we’ll all be watching the conference eagerly awaiting details tomorrow afternoon.
