I recently installed the free email client Incredimail. It works fine but, on downloading an update, it has taken over Google Chrome, Firefox and my other internet browsers. I installed System Mechanic from a recent PC Advisor cover DVD. Its Windows installer pops up whenever I turn on my machine and seems to think there’s a CD in the drive when there isn’t. Aside from a message that the driver isn’t Windows XP logo-certified, I can find no obvious cause.

Sent messages from my Outlook Express account are being dated four days prior to their actual date of sending and filed in the Sent Items with the faulty date on them. The recipients then overlook the messages as they don’t appear at the top of their email pile.

  • How-Tos: How to use a 64-bit web browser

My Windows 7 laptop has icons for both 32bit and 64bit Internet Explorer.
