have 5.1 surround sound on computer, when i go to sound properties and configure speakers all are working on test, when i play a cd through media player only 2 front speakers work does anyone know why this is

if i download demo from microsoft site for media player sound is in 5.1 , but when playing a cd it is not

But your cd is only stereo you need to have something in your sound set up to create Pseudo surround
