kb954430 keeps reinstalling BUT also will not uninstall in order to allow fix

kb954430 keeps reinstalling BUT also will not uninstall in order to allow fix. i've gone to the vista update area and ALL other updates when you click on them have a link that appears to do the uninstall. kb954430 will not uninstall so that i can then manually reinstall it, in the hopes it will stop reinstalling.

there was a fix listed as: uninstall, then reinstall manually, but one has to be able to uninstall the update, which for some reason, i can not.

any ideas for other ways to uninstall an update that does not have the option to click the uninstall link?

you could go to windows update then right click on the update and select hide.thats if it comes up to be installed.

Re hiding it?

if i do check the hide it option, what does that do?

is the update actually installed properly since it keeps trying to reinstall? the reason i ask is that it is an important security update, so i want to make sure it is working.

thank you.

if you go to view update history and it says the update was successfull then i would have thought you'd be ok.

Re hiding it?

it might be ok, but i was reading that when the update tries to reinstall, that's because something was not working properly with the update even though it says it was successfully installed.

it is weird that it is the only update without an uninstall option

it is weird i agree.it's almost acting like malware itself :o(

it's a long shot but you could try running in safe mode and see if you can uninstall from there

i just read a thread at another forum that states that there should be another update that replaces that one.it may just be worth clicking on search for updates to see if it comes back as not needed.
