When trying to install a BMW manual DVD disc I get an error, -16 bit Windows subsystem -C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL. An installable Virtual Device Driver failed Dll installation. Choose "Close" to terminate the appplication. It then gives either Close or Ignore to enter.

If I ignore it fails to install.

The supplier has said it's on my PC but I don't have any Symantec products on my PC.

He gave me a fix which requires editing the registry and going to the Virtual Device Drivers and deleting the key before entering VDD as the new value and restarting compiuter.

Is this safe to do? it says it was in Microsoft Knowledge Base 254914
