Seems a well known un-named major computer maker that advertises in PCAdvisor is on BBC Watchdog tonight @ 8pm. Seems this 'respected' company in fact offers poor service & support to it's customers!

I had bad Mesh experience a few years ago, I've posted about it enough times in other threads so won't go on. Anyway, someone else I know had a Mesh machine and it seems fine - well they didn't send any driver discs but a quick download can fix that. So I'm 50/50 about them at the moment, but if Watchdog get onto them they'll probably improve anyway.

...a £2000.-- + system having been sent back 6 times for a repair....a repair job after which the owner finds National Front application forms on his system!! a woman having spent £50.-- on a helpline not being able to resolve anything only to end up finding a local PC repair guy who had to carry out a repair costing her £ 120.--...
Outcome: the company is recruiting 100 more staff to answer telephone queries...a promise to pick up a call after 4 rings...an engineer turnaround repair time of no more than 3 days...

Any company producing 50k systems a year is almost certain to experience some customer problems.
Watchdog doesn't make it clear whether, for instance, it's components that have proved faulty or inexperienced computer users, although I'm not condoning the customer service allegedly involved.
The only experience I've had as a Mesh customer is as someone who purchased a £750 system three years ago for an elderly friend.
The system has never missed a beat in all that time despite the friend (now around 85) initially having no computing experience at all (apart from using a word processing machine).

Mesh, Mesh what a Mesh Stuartli Any company producing 50k systems a year is almost certain to experience some customer problems.
of course you are right but you only have to use the search facility here to see that Mesh have got thier share of getting it oh so wrong. How many chances do they need to get their Customer Service so that it is what the name suggests. How many people here truly believe the statement they made to Watchdog.
The complaints continue to roll and we have had the excuse of the large quantity of units produced against the comparison of the "small" amount of complaints but aren't people starting to "smell the coffee" after all its gone beyond this fine and wonderful forum (and I mean that comment sincerely) and now reached the hallowed ground of watchdog, national telly!!! will this be the wakup call? I hope so, nobody wants to see another computer company bite the dust, so come on Mesh start listening to your customers.

well stuart we disagree again i spent a similar amount and had nothing but trouble for nearly two years eventually winding up in a full refund, i accept that some things must work ok but now nearly 5 years on from my sad experiences the company has not (it appears ) moved forward an inch from my own sad experiences of some years back. yes i accept you call me a whinger and you ( cos you were lucky ) have a working machine we will have to differ,
johnny.

They are "introducing a series of solemn customer pledges" what does that mean. I can pledge to climb Mount Everest but it means nothing if I don't actually do it.
Its a meaningless statement. We'll try to improve things I suppose they mean.
I'm sorry but some of the stories I have seen on this website over the past year or two has really put me off them. They have had plenty of opportunity to sort things out and as far as I can see things are just as bad. I realise they sell a lot of PCs that run fine but I'm not lucky and if it was me I'd end up with one that was faulty.
Wouldn't touch a Mesh with a bargepole.
Don't see so many complaints about Dells as an example do you and they sell a lot of PCs so what does that tell you?

Totally-braindead I didn't see the watchdog item, I was watching football on Sky, but I've read the report on the BBC Consumer site.
"They are "introducing a series of solemn customer pledges" what does that mean."
I suppose it means just that, the company is introducing a series of pledges - they outline them in the BBC report. Will it make any difference? I don't know - I suppose we'll have to wait and see. Actions, as they say, speak louder than words, and I'm always prepared to give someone the chance to show what they can do.
"Don't see so many complaints about Dells as an example do you"
No, you don't, but if you had been around the forum a few years back you certainly would have - things got so bad that I contacted Michael Dell about it on behalf of our disgruntled forum members, or at least I tried to - he didn't respond. The company did set about putting matters right, though, and the Dell customer service you see today is the result. Mesh sells 50,000 computers a year, Dell sells 3 million a month, it's an entirely different marketing operation.

So the old appalling service to customers is a thing of the past then now that Mesh is going to improve their Customer Service by 100%. It’s just a pity that when Mesh realised they were going to appear on BBC Watchdog they decided to take action, this should have been done years ago & without the prompt from Watchdog.
My hope is that Mesh learn from this & make owning a Mesh PC a dream & not a nightmare!

johnnyrocker There's an old saying that one swallow doesn't make a summer...:-)
If you do a Search through this and similar forums, you'll find complaints about virtually all the major online computer system retailers.
The difference is that only those who have had problems complain - the vast majority who are perfectly happy with purchases rarely extend praise because it's precisely the service expected.
Regarding the Mesh system I bought three years ago it was stated at the time that delivery would be nearly three weeks later on a particular day.
On the day in question the system was delivered as promised and was up and running a few hours later.
