Re-install Win7

My new build PC (guy along the road, no longer available) arrived with an illegal copy of Win 8 which i have tried but don't like so I now want to re-install my legal Win 7 by formatting the SSD C:/ drive to remove Win 8 but it won't let me do so. What do I do, simply run the Win 7 installation disc on top of Win 8 or what?

I'll be away most of the afternoon, back evening

Were you doing the classic mistake of trying to format SSD C:/ drive from within W8 on C:? (you were instructing W8 to delete itself... think about that ;@)

Boot into the Win 7 installation disk instead.

Thanks lotvic. Yes, when you put it that way it does indeed make sense. I'll give that a try.
