Adobe Flash has stopped working !

My wife's Windows 7 laptop has suddenly stopped recognizing Flash. It states either that Flash is not installed or that she doesn't have the latest version.

Latest versions have been downloaded several times and have shown as installed correctly but still the same messages. We have uninstalled old versions before re-installing but no joy.

Any ideas ?
