format c then use d to install

am running vista, at the moment everything is slow, i have 2 partions d is the recovery. how do i format C and re install everything using D (recovery) or do i have to make a recovery disc if so how. or would it be easier to reset to factory.

It would certainly be faster and easier,provided you have the system restore disk that came with the computer. Make sure that you back up all your data files first.
