Hi In Win 7 on the start bar the most recent programs were shown and there were short cuts to the most recent documents assoc with those programs that had been viewed.

I can't find anything in win 8 similar to this, is there an ? or something similar that will alow me to see most recent documents that have been viewed / edited ?

many thanks for any thoughts / assistance

G :)

If you install something like Classic Shell in Windows 8, this will restore the Start Button and All Programs menu etc. The Start Menu can be configured to include "Recent Items". as it was in Windows 7.

Open file explorer, select view tab, navigation pane (to the left), tick 'show favourites'. Now on the left pane you have the link to ' recent places'.

For recent items :

C: \ users\ (your name) \ AppData \ Roaming \ Microsoft \ Windows. Right click Recent Items and select Pin to Start. You now have a tile for Recent Items on the start page.
