hyper transport flood sync error

My husbands windows 7 MSI laptop is shutting down randomly and coming up with the above error. When i googled the problem the info is very techy and probably doesn't apply as it seems to refer to people who built their own desktops and are overclocking them whatever that means. There seems no reason for this it just started suddenly. it doesn't seem to be getting hot, the fan is working. Can anyone help with this please?
