Forgive this basic question : if I upgrade from Windows 7 to 8, do I have to re-install all the programs currently loaded, after the upgrade?

Tried taking my files and folders with me to W/8 without success and had to reinstall it without the files and folders.

If the program supports Windows 8 then do not, otherwise you just will have to find a replacement

This may show you how unpopular W/8 is at the moment.

Notice W/8 at the bottom

Not only that but a few grumbles from manufacturers that their sales are dropping because of W/8 on new computers.

No doubt they will pick up a bit in the next few weeks.

Jock1e, there's no doubt in my mind that 8 will be the most popular Windows OS yet and it won't take all that long for it to be so.

You may well be right but up till now it only 1% of the population using it.

It is new and you would expect it to improve but I cannot see it getting above the amount of Vista users.

Probably we will never know as Windows Blue is supposed to be coming out the middle of next year.

Jock1e, still awake then :)

Blue is a bit far away yet I think. Will take Microsoft a bit of time to catch up, and pass, Apple at its own game.

Just about to head for bed.I try to stay up till at least 12 O'clock. If I go to bed any earlier I get up about 4.30 am and it is to cold to be doing that just now.

Don't think it will catch up with apple unless it improves a lot in the next year or so.
