Explorer windows close and restart windows

Weird problem on windows 7 home, 32bit version.

When I open a folder (eg windows explorer), it will open then restart explorer.exe (ie it will close the window, the start menu disappears and then windows flashes up as if it has just logged on). Sometimes restarting sorts the issue but the problem remains. Very weird and couldn't pin point anything I have done recently that would have caused it. Any thoughts?

FYI my antivirus is prevx3.0 if that helps. ## Heading ##

Try running the system file checker, option 2 .

You might have to run it a couple of times. See if that helps.

I can only suggest trying a system restore to before the problem started.
