Toshiba laptop and vista problems

Suddenly Vista on my Tosh A100 Laptop has started powering up and then within minutes powering down, only for the cycle to repeat.

I have tried the Tosh recovery and no joy. Tried system restore under Vista but it wont restore to an earlier time.

Any ideas?

Nothing obvious comes to mind.
It's always worth removing all power, and the battery and then holding the power button down for 20 seconds or so.

If you then dod a factory reinstall (does it have a hidden partition or recovery discs) and it still isn't right then it looks like a hardware issue.

Could it be overheating ? is the fan cutting in correctly ?

You tried running System Restore without success, but have you tried running it in Safe Mode?
