export/import mail to win 7

I have used, and enjoyed OE for a long time. Currently use gmail, downloaded to OE.
I understand that W7 will not run this, and I don't like the idea of Live Mail. I am about to move to 7. Can I go to Thunderbird, and import emails and address book, please? Or should I dual boot XP?

TIA Kimig

You can set Live Mail up to run with google mail, it works fine on my system. Live mail works just like OE, it saves your email locally and also keeps multiple machines synced, I can use it with my desktop and notebook and have all emails on both. I imported my email from Vista which uses a different file type for export and import than OE but from what I've read there shouldn't be a problem.
