I just installed and activated W7 on my Toshiba Satellite P100-188 by booting from the upgrade disk, no additional steps were needed. I had a few problems with drivers for my sound card and getting HomeGroup working. None of the problems were W7 related.

The sound drivers I used are Vista ones and the HomeGroup problem was related to F-Secures Firewall, once a filesharing rule was set up and IPv6 was enabled HomeGroup worked. I also had a problem with printer sharing which was down to 64bit installed on the desktop and 32bit on the notebook, this was rectified by installing the relevant drivers on both machines and then setting up a local printer port instead of using a networked one.

All in all on my Desktop and Notebook machines the installation went relatively smoothly, I have to say it was much easier than any other Windows installation or upgrade to date.
