Icons in "My Documents"

In Windows 7, when I go into Library and then Documents, I see a number of Word file icons.

Some are the usual Word file icon - basically a white rectangle with a big blue W at the top left.

However, the icon of other Word documents is a kind of miniature preview of the document itself.

Why are some icons shown as a thumbnail while others are not?

It could be that the word files are individual files and the others are files containing more than one file.

Go to organise, folder and search options, then view, to choose the settings you require, then apply.

PS. To alter the size of the icons and therefore the detail shown choose the drop down arrow to the right of the pic icon and use the slider. click here
