My Win 7 Won't Install

Done all the correct things that I'm aware of. Ran Win 7 compatable test which basically told me only 3 programs were not compatable, Microsoft LifeCam, Microsoft Intellipoint Mouse, and Microsoft ActiveSync which I wasn't concerned about as I assumed that up to date versions of these would be on the Win 7 disk. Everything else was fine on my PC but it recommended an update to Realtek AC'97 Audio which I di before startting.

Stuck disk in and followed instructions with bated breath and sure enough it did as the instructions said.

Then it came to the Windows 7 start up screen and I got the nice new Microsoft Screen and then the blue one appeared with this message.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR EQUAL

and a bit further below
Stop 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0X8C68C5C3, 0X80E0C7E0, 0X80E0C3C0) I hoe I copied all that down correctly.

Don't know what to do next as I seem stuck between the preverbial rock and a hard place. I bought the 3 lecense version but her indoors is now in a panic and won't let me near her laptop.

Anyone any ideas on what I can do next.

Well folks I'm back up and running again. I finally decided to stop with the hair pulling and build a new PC. Got a few bits and bobs and threw them into the box and Bob was my uncle once again. Windows 7 flew on as did all my other programs. Epson provided the updated drivers and programs I needed for my printer and scanner and I must say that so far I'm very impressed with Win 7. Such a big change from XP so I've many things to learn yet. Only one program seems a little flaky, Fuji FinePix Viewer despite me using the Vista update, but I don't use it much and I hope there will soon be an update for Win 7.

Now do I sell my old stuff on e-bay or venture into the Ubuntu world with the spare parts?
