Querie about my old Word 97 files on Windows 7

Hello.

I had been using Word 97 for ten years until last month I bought Office 2007 which had the newest Word.

Now my old Word 97 files work fine on Word 2007 I am pleased to say, but do have a different looking icon, and when you run the cursor over then they do mention they were originally Word 97 files.

My question is will these files open ok with the new Windows 7? I am purchasing my new Windoes 7 Dell PC next week.

Thank you.

Windows 7 is an Operating System and will have no bearing on opening Word Documents.

That's what you use Word 2007 for which works flawlessly on Windows 7.

Wonderful, so my old Word 97 files should have no problem opening then in Windows 7?

'so my old Word 97 files should have no problem opening then in Windows 7?'

Only if you have Microsoft Office or Microsoft Word installed on your computer.

Why not load all your Word 97 files into Word 2007 then re-save them as Word 2007 files. That way you would not have any problems loading them.

That is a good idea. Didn't think of that. Thanks!
