Re-activate why?

To save on resources I recently switched off all the extras and toys on Vista Ultimate and settled for best performance only , I was then told to restart and subsequently told I had to reactivate Vista . O. K. it was no problem but just wondered why ?

Probably due to you switching off all the extras etc, has caused Windows to think there were enough changes to your system to warrant a re-activate.
