shared folders and paths

This is really linked to my previous question ....

I am getting in a muddle trying to transfer files from my desktop to my vista laptop. Am I correct in thinking that the shared files and folders in the C:\ drive are NOT linked to the data in my G:\ drive which I keep exclusively for data. I have two hard drives.

ie if I delete a file in the shared folder, it still remains in the data drive? This is what *seems* to be happening, but I am not sure.

If you copy a file from your c:\ drive in shared files and folders over to your g:\ drive, deleting that file in either location will not affect the other file.
