windows says its updating but doesnt download

I am having trouble with my updates. all of my updates in the store say they are downloading but don't. If I go to the control panel i can manually look for updates and try to download them and the same thing happens. If i try to open an app (i.e skype) it tells me to download updates where it gets listed with the others in the store. My internet connection is working fine so I am not sure where to go next to get things downloading. Any help appreciated
