Windows 8 Recovery Media - USB Stick v USB Drive

I have just purchased a Dell laptop and want to create a set of recovery media so that in the event the OS has problems, I can boot from the recovery media.

Does Windows 8 have native capabilities for doing this? All I can find so far is a Dell proprietary application which will not allow me to create recovery media onto a USB stick. Instead, they insist upon a USB hard drive, which seems excessive to me.

Any ideas please folks?

Type recovery into search on the charms bar and it gives you 10 choices not sure if any are any good to you but worth a look.

Thanks Jock1e - that got me on the right track. The choices were not that obvious. It gave me only one application, the Dell application previously described, but it also gave me 10 "settings" and it turned out that one of those settings was the standard Windows 8 recovery app.

Why do Microsoft have to make things so obscure? :)
