Sorry but did you actually download W/8 or just the Upgrade assistant.
Did you take your old files and folders with you as that can cause problems.
A Clean install would be the best way to go.
If it downloaded windows 8 your computer will no longer start in safe mode so you may have a few problems.
You can always try by tapping F8 as the computer starts.
Your old thread.
Looks like it has been out of action for some time lets hope someone can give you the help that you need.
All I can think of is if you still have the XP pro disk would revert back to that if it is possible then run the W/8 Upgrade again without taking any programs with you to see if that would work. But of course that would be a last resort.
How much memory does the computer have.

The problem with W/8 is that there is no safe mode to go into to try and solve problems.
You would probably need a W/8 dvd to do a repair and I do not know if you can actually download one or not.
I know very little about W/8 except it is about the worst version I have came across for doing any start up repairs.
Do you know of anyone who has the same version dvd that you could borrow.
I presume you can still get into the Bios and make sure it is starting with the hard drive as 1st boot.

Have a look at your email receipt for Win 8. Near the top you should see,
*Thanks for your order!
This is your receipt - make sure to print or save a copy for your records. If you need to download Windows, write down your new product key and enter it here.*
Use the link to download the iso file. You can then use your own software to burn to disk or load to usb .
